Mission: To foster further and develop religious benevolence consistent with the mission of the First Baptist Church of Columbia, Mississippi

· Ministry to the needs of the community, i.e., Food Pantry, local campus of the Baptist Children’s Village, and mission endeavors

The Foundation of First Baptist Church is recognized as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation by the Internal Revenue Service.

The Foundation of the First Baptist Church of Columbia was formed in 2003 to foster, further and develop religious benevolence by funding scholarships, mission endeavors, and capital improvements that are consistent with the mission of the First Baptist Church of Columbia. The Foundation’s purposes are as follows:
· Scholarship support for students attending Baptist/Seminary Institutions or the First Baptist Church Kindergarten.
· Mission support, including relief of the poor, the distressed or the underprivileged, prevention of cruelty to children, combating community deterioration, combating juvenile delinquency, and the advancement of religion. The Foundation was formed to serve any Baptist institution, agency, cause or enterprise fostered by the First Baptist church of Columbia or the Southern Baptist Convention.
· Capital improvements to the FBC-Columbia church building for maintenance and additions.
For the 2011 fiscal year, the Foundation’s assets decreased from $68,049.21 on September 30, 2010, to $63,896.54 on September 30, 2011, with an annual return on average assets of (.28)%. The Foundation had $(190.67) in investment income and loss in value, received $300 in contributions, had no operating expenses and distributed scholarships of $1,000.00 to Stuart Magee (Mississippi College), $500 to Graysen Miller (Mississippi College), $500 to Neil Molaison (William Carey University), $1,000 to Emily Seals (Mississippi College) and $1,000 to Ellen Jo Seals (Mississippi College) during the 2011 fiscal year. The Baker Kindergarten Fund provided $262.00 for Olivia Hamel.
The Foundation, which is an avenue for final bequests, transfers or gifts, does not actively solicit contributions. Those interested in making a contribution or seeking additional information may contact the Church Office or any trustee of the Foundation. Current trustees are Dr. Bryant Barnes, Robert Bourne, Trey Carley, Cathy Creel, Dr. Hugh Dickens, Jerry Kemp, Gayle Knight, Bruce Ratcliff and Beverly Swann.
