MISSISSIPPI BAPTIST SYMPHONY

The Mississippi Baptist Symphony will be in concert here at First Baptist, Columbia, on Sunday, February 26th, at 6:00 p.m. The orchestra numbers over 80 members and is directed by Dr. David Young.

This will be the first concert of the year for the orchestra. They usually play six concerts in the year. FBC, Columbia, last hosted a concert by this group in 2004.

This is a marvelous opportunity for our church and community to hear a quality symphony. This also gives our members who play instruments the opportunity to play with the symphony. This will hopefully promote interest in an orchestra here at First Baptist.

Admission is free and a nursery will be provided. Invite your friends and family to come with you for this special time of music and praise.

THE LIVING LAST SUPPER

Have you noticed beards being grown on men who normally do not wear them? It could be that they are preparing to present "The Living Last Supper" on Sunday, April 1st. Of the twelve disciples depicted in Leonardo da Vinci's famous painting, "The Last Supper," only two do not have a beard.

This presentation will be part of our Tenebrae service on Palm Sunday. The painting will literally come to life as the disciples tell of their fellowship with Jesus and ask themselves the haunting question, "Is it I?"

This will be a service for the whole city and county. We will be asking other churches to meet with us as we commemorate the instituting of the Lord's Supper and Jesus' death and burial. Please help us invite the community to worship with us.
